CARING for your new Rabbit’s 

1.  All of the rabbits in our care have been rescued or donated to us so they will need lots of TLC after settling into their new home. They will take a few days to adjust to their new home and new family so please be patient.

2. All of the rabbits are usually fed on Nuggets,  this way the rabbits cant choose to eat certain parts of the food and miss out on vitamins from the food, and hay unless otherwise stated by the voluntier caring for the specific animal, please dont give your new addition any fruit or veg for the first 48 hours of your care as car travel can cause constipation and belly bloat which could end up being very dangerous for your new bunny.

3. Let the new addition settle in and just gently talk to it and let it get used to you and your familys scent, then in a few days slowly start to handle for short periods of time until the rabbit is used to you. Make sure any children are quiet when meeting and spending time with your new addition, also just to be safe sit your children down if they want to handle the rabbit once it is used to you just incase it slipps or the child dropps it if the rabbit startles the child.

4. Once your rabbit is home, please ensure the hutch is secure and out of the way of dogs or cats reach as this may stress your rabbit out more.

5. Rabbits teeth continually grow so please ensure you have a wooden chew toy to nibble on and a mineral block too, these will help to prevent boredom too, rabbits are clever animals so provide lots of stimulation and company for them as there very sociable too and can get very lonly.

6. In summer/warmer months it is reccomended to have a secure pen/run in the garden for the rabbit to play in as they love to have fun and exercise out side, just be sure to provide a house/hide so they can get out of direct sunlight.

7. Once your pet is at home and has been for a little while keep an eye on the length of its nails/claws as they can quickly become over grown, they are easily clipped down by a groomer or by your self if you dont go very far down the nail.

8. Lastly remeber if your rabbit is kept out side to keep on top of cleaning and interaction in the cold months, make sure they have plenty of bedding and if possible bring them inside or into a ventilated shed on fire works night as they can become very scared and anxious.
